I heard him speak at the poetry festival StAnza this year. He was so alive and full of love for writing and ideas that he was positively vibrating. He is a real loss. x
I only saw him reading once - in Hampstead. I remember he read On the Beach at Cambridge, which I imagine he read quite a lot. My favourite has always been "Nostalgia - Now Threepence Off".

Yes, indeed. I met him several times at publishers' sales conferences, and he was so full of vitality and passion and belief in the power of words.
