September Skies

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add colour to my sunset sky. RABINDRANATH TAGORE Stray Birds

If I had to pick my two favourite months of the year, they would be May and September. This was the sky above our garden for a few minutes last night.

Beautiful sky, and I'm with you about September. There is a fullness about it so luxurious — sky, flowers, vegetables, trees. Ah, harvest time.

Yes, and I love the way the sunlight slants across. It's a threshold time. The bounty of summer, tinged with the melancholy of autumn. And a great month for photography!

My favourite months too. Great colour parade in your sky.

It changes in an instant, doesn't it Robert. This morning when David drew back the curtains it was a dull, grey sky. By the time he brought back my cup of tea it was completely suffused with deep pink.

Great shots of gorgeous skies…and they are typically fleeting, so capturing such images is a victory.

Choosing my two favorite months would be tough—not because I like them all equally, but because they're transitions: the last two weeks of April and the first two of May (Apray?) and the final two of October plus the first two weeks of November (Octvember?) The skyrocketing heart of spring, and the dramatic last-hurrah of autumn-becoming-winter.

Thanks for your comments, Arija, Pat and Grizz.

Yes, so fleeting, Grizz. 'The skyrocketing heart of spring.' I love this!

Mine are September and October. Love your sky views! Yes, it is the slant of light this time of year that feels just right.
