C sends her love to you and K. What an amazing coincidence!

We can't have seen each other for 20 years!

I know you love walking etc - why don't we meet up for a hike? The Solitary Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11284354541952038339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8319797996494487653.post-80510181397637884492008-07-04T17:16:00.000+01:002008-07-04T17:16:00.000+01:00Thanks for this very interesting post - especially...Thanks for this very interesting post - especially the quotes! I have many happy memories of spending a week in a cinema in London in the 80s when they were showing nothing but Herzog. It has become a yardstick against which I measure all my experiences in the cinema. (By the way, you'll be gratified to know that your blog was the 6th link in the list when I googled Herzog Yentob bbc1!)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8319797996494487653.post-53804146254296313222008-07-04T15:33:00.000+01:002008-07-04T15:33:00.000+01:00I've quite a few of his films yet to see myself, C...I've quite a few of his films yet to see myself, Chris. 'Stroszek' is a particular favourite of mine - with the famous dancing chicken at the end. Apparently his cameraman refused to film this sequence, he thought it so naff!

From a walking perspective, there's also his book 'Of Walking In Ice' about his winter walk from Munich to Paris in 1974. Strangely enough, I did the same journey myself 6 months later. But hitch-hiked.The Solitary Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11284354541952038339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8319797996494487653.post-82216112122914085192008-07-04T01:22:00.000+01:002008-07-04T01:22:00.000+01:00Thanks for that very interesting post. Months are after watching one I find myself reminded of it or suddenly thinking about it and seeing some aspect of it in a different light. The lengths he goes to with some of the films is extraordinary. Actually building a boat and hauling it over a mountain in Fitzcarraldo is astonishing. Apparently the Indians who appeared in that film offered to kill Klaus Kinski for Herzog.

There are many Herzog films I have yet to see. Which is wonderful to know.Chris Townsendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04282926597863688874noreply@blogger.com
