Children Of Albion

Michael Horovitz, editor of Children of Albion: Poetry of the Underground in Britain, has written a wonderfully informative obituary of Adrian Mitchell in today's Independent. Do read it: www.independent.co.uk/obituaries/adrian-mitchell-poet-and-playwright-whose-work-was-driven-by-his-pacifist-politics-1208517.html

Many of the jazz/Beat/Beatles influenced poets in Children of Albion were also entranced by the poems, paintings and prints of William Blake.

The above illustration is William Blake's Vision of the Children of Albion.

I'd not read any Adrian Mitchell before, thanks for this.

Would like to read his last poem, as referred to in the link article - it's not on Bloodaxe Books site yet, but no doubt will be.

Always admired Blake's paintings - was it he who said about a 'whole world in a grain of sand'?

An interesting book, Children of Albion. I was interested to see news of a C of A poet, Felix Mendelssohn on the Poet in Residence's blog not so long ago.

Warmest Wishes of the Season! Thank you for such an interesting blog.

There's a card up on my blog today - feel free to print it off, (the resolution may be low because of blog compressions).

Happy blogging 2009.
