Used to listen to them a lot but haven't in a while. Thanks for the reminder!
homemade music: my favorite kind!
I have never heard of The Be Good Tanyas, but I absolutely love this music and the video. The wonderful images of the backstreets of New Orleans deeply resonate with me because I grew up just ninety miles away and have spent a great deal of time in the city. And the musicians in the video! Each and every one reeked of a deep, spiritual authenticity. And, oh yes — the littlest birds do, indeed, sing the prettiest songs.
Wow...loved 'em!! They quite literally had me sitting here with a smile on my face and my toes tapping!! Excellent...will have to look 'em up! As well as Mumford and sons...another goodie!
No really my kind of music but like the quote - shall use it for a blog one of these days.
You've got one more fan out here now. How wonderful they are, and the video too. We need this. Love reading George's reverie too.
Oh yes! I live not far from Vancouver, B.C. A friend loaned me their CD in the late 1990s. Back then I had not been to New Orleans. I've seen this YouTube video before but didn't realize I was seeing New Orleans. Clearly in the lineage of Laura Marling and Mumford and Sons. Thanks so much for this today!
It finally hit me...listening to them again...this song has a feel and sound to it like Ladysmith Black Mombasa...which I already have and love!
Never heard of TBGTs, but oh how sweet their music is. The video too is great. It is a world which is so alien to anything we know this side of the pond.I think I must click on all your music clips from now on, you are introducing me to a new, 'simple' world.
Thanks, exactly the sort of thing I needed to hear this morning.
Pleased you liked them. I think they're just fantastic. Think they only did 2 or 3 albums before pursuing individual musical careers. This song is the first track from their debut record, 'Blue Horse'.
I'm totally with George on this...except for living in Louisiana...thanks for sharing. ~clairemarie
