900th Post

Numbers like 9, 90 and 900 are strange bedfellows; I feel a little sorry for them. Always destined to cower somewhere at the bottom of the bed, knowing everyone's waiting for the main event: the orgasmic 10, 100 and 1000.

In a bid to rescue these retiring wallflowers from the shadows, here's my 9th post and here's my 90th.

And this is my 900th. (Good. I was wondering what on earth to write for my 900th post, and the matter seems to have taken care of itself.)

And the moral is: don't neglect the build-up. It's generally a lot more entertaining than the climax.

900 posts? Will I still be at it for that?
If I am mine won't be as fresh and new as yours are.
Congratulations!

So many directions one could take with a comment on this post ;) ... I will settle with a hearty congratulations on 900 posts - and say I never neglect nines as they are my favourite number.

Thanks for sharing all your tips on how to comment again Robert! Just cleared my cache and cookies. :) Let's see if it works .....

Thanks, Friko. It's impossible for you ever to grow stale, Friko, of that I'm sure ...

And Bonnie - thanks! (You also need to untick the box on Blogger's sign-in page saying 'Stay Signed In', I've found.)

Good work! And play!

I'm grateful for being directed to post #9 and reading about Wangari Maathai today as I had not discovered your blog back then. Was definitely reading by post #90. I like having the dimension of blogtime in my life.

I am just slightly ahead of you Robert and am thinking what really exciting thing I can do for my thousandth. Any ideas?

Many congratulations, Robert. What a milestone. Have you had to do some mental arithmetic to discover this fact, I wonder ... or is there an easier way? I love words, but numbers give me palpitations!

Wow! Nine hundred posts! Here I was feeling all righteous and prolific having just passed the 500th-post mark—and I have all the riverbank birds and blooms and slithery critters to write about. Moreover, having gone back and read most of the previous entries since I first discovered your blog, I'm really struck by their amazing diversity, overall great quality, and constant freshness.

Congratulations, my friend. I hope you continue blogging for years to come. If you do, I'll be reading.

Holy 900 cat lives, Robert, that's prolific! I have been blogging about a year longer than you, but you have me beat on number of posts. It has been a joy to get to know you, one of my favorite bloggers. I find interest and resonance in everything you post, and I usually learn something I value. I raise my earthy hand thrown coffee mug to another 900 lives!

Hahaha, that sorta sounds like sometimes I learn things I don't value. Not what I meant. :)

Whenever I learn something here, I value it! And that's often.

Amanda - you have been such a loyal supporter of my blog over the years. I am so grateful.

Pat - for your thousandth? How about some mobile blogging from your bike as you pedal on a solo trip around the world? Failing that, a blogversary tea in Richmond to which we are all invited?

Thanks, Caroline. You can easily calculate the post number by following the 'Edit Posts' link on Blogger, then doing some simple counting ...

Thanks so much, Grizz. I do feel really honoured, as always, to have you reading. I value your comments. Your own blog, as you know, I've read from the start. To be honest, with your recent post layouts, you've raised the bar yet again! Wonderful stuff, and I look forward to more 'birds, blooms and slithery critters'.

It's been a joy to discover your own blog, Ruth - without question one of my favourites too. If there are things you find interesting and resonant here, then I'm humbled to think I've created something which may be considered of value. Primarily, I just want to communicate my joys and enthusiasms, ideas and beliefs, in the hope of touching others - at least in some small way.

Well, thank you, Robert ... but I found an easier way as the number of posts was listed on the dashboard ... namely 550.

I have a lot of catching up to do!

you deserve some kind of award for that — i'm having trouble imagining 900 posts... i'm about to post my 100th and that seemed like a lot to me — until now!

big congrats robert!!!

You are so right, most people neglect the journey in their anticipation of the arrival.
Congratulations on your 900th. post.
