Lake

Grebe Lake, Whisby Nature Park, Lincoln.

A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature. HENRY DAVID THOREAU

I live and grew up in a state with 11,000 lakes. They are part of my internal landscape.

A very nice image that works well with your header photo. The quote from Thoreau is also quite wonderful and insightful.

Among bodies of water, lakes are my favourite. I find it hard to be away from them for long. You manged to make a beautiful atmospheric photo despite what looks like less than inviting weather conditions. My husband has been in Lincolnshire for the past few weeks and has been painting me a picture of meteorological misery - wind, sleet, rain, bone-chilling cold. Perhaps this is evidence of same. And here I thought he was complaining more just because he was back in England and taking up that national sport again!

Thanks Ruth, George and Laurel.

Yes, the weather here has been pretty miserable, Laurel — just as your husband describes. Hail, too. Snow comes every so often, but doesn't stick. The forecast for this week is more of the same — grey, wet and cold.

Hell, I feel better now, after complaining about the weather!
