Mystery Of Mysteries

Sunset and acacia tree (photo taken from our window 20 minutes ago).

And the sunset itself on such waves of ether
That I just can't comprehend
Whether it is the end of the day, the end of the world,
Or the mystery of mysteries in me again.

What a photo, what a sunset, what a quotation! You've captured and synthesized something very special here in this moment in time.

"Whether it is the end of the day, the end of the world..." Touches on a feeling I vividly remember when I was a small child in Lincolnshire, watching the sunset over all that flat land.

Vulcans flew over so often I used to think that the rumbling drone of a jet engine was the sound of the sun setting.

It was a special moment, and such a brief one, Ruth. And the brevity made it special.

I was born in Lincolnshire, and ended up in Lincolnshire, Dominic, after years of wandering. Yes, there's something magical about that overarching sky and those majestic sunsets over the plain.

'The sound of the sun setting.' I like this synesthesia.

p.s.

I did post and have sort of changed the name of my blog, or added to it, "ACT THREE"...

An absolutely magnificent photo, Robert, that captures what must have been an experience something akin to an epiphany. The magic and mystery of light, especially during moments of transition, is one of the great blessings of life.

I'm glad you liked the photo, George.

'The magic and mystery of light, especially during moments of transition, is one of the great blessings of life.' Yes, indeed.

No problem, Gail… My brain seems to be a trifle misty too these days!

Beautiful colours. And an acacia -- are they common in England? I'm guessing from its size that it's an African variety and not an Australian?

Dominic: Vulcans? Low-flying Spocks? Scary!

Not common, Goat. Don't know which variety. We've lived opposite it for years, and it never fails to brighten my day.
