Farewell, farewell, to you who would hear,
You lonely travellers all,
The cold North wind will blow again,
The winding road does call.
And will you never return to see
Your bruised and beaten sons?
Oh, I would, I would, if welcome I were,
For they loathe me everyone.
And will you never cut the cloth
Or drink the light to be?
And can you never swear a year
To anyone of we?
No I will never cut the cloth
Or drink the light to be,
But I'll swear a year to one who lies
Asleep alongside of me.
Farewell, farewell, to you who would hear,
You lonely travellers all,
The cold North wind will blow again,
The winding road does call.

Thank goodness you have posted another blog. Began to think you had either got writers' block or had gone on another solitary walk.
Hello again.
Hello.
Another solitary walk..? Now there's an idea...
To think that RT was about 19 when 'Leige & Lief' was released...incredible. An incredible partnership with Sandy Denny. I love this and 'Crazy Man Michael'.
When I bought 'Liege and Lief' in 1969 it changed as radically as did 'Sergeant Pepper' and 'Music From Big Pink' my understanding and appreciation of where rock music could go and what it could do. And this track moves me now every bit as much as it did 39 years ago. Thanks for posting it.
Great to hear that again. Thanks.
Wonderful, both the verse and the music. Thanks for that.
