Countdown To Christmas (18): Rejection

Lucinda Williams: If Wishes Were Horses

If I think of 'chicks with guitars' I think of Bonnie Raitt, Chrissie Hynde - and Lucinda Williams. I first started listening to Lucinda Williams in 1998 when her CD 'Car Wheels On A Gravel Road' came out. Her voice has been likened to whisky laced with gravel. Her laid-back, no bullshit, unsentimental style appeals to me. Quite simply, she rocks.

PS If you're not familiar with Lucinda Williams, you may know her song 'Passionate Kisses' - which Mary Chapin Carpenter made popular.

I guess I'm dated, but Patsy Cline is the one for me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsRNCvHXHHU

Thanks for introducing me to her music - and I see what you mean about her voice! Although I think the tone is not as 'thin' as whisky - maybe more like honey mead and gravel!

Honey mead sounds just right, Phoenix! Specially apt as her last record was called 'Little Honey' (2008)

First time listener here - I love her voice!

BTW - I have stopped blogging for the moment - I can't understand the shamelessness of some non-readers to visit a site and ask to use your photos for their own commercial interests. :) maybe I'm just an idealist but it disturbs me and not that it is my photos on a non-commercial blog in which they are not regular readers, but that it is the artwork they are interested in (regardless of the fact that the artist of the glass mosaic was an 85year old Iranian woman who will not gain anything from it).

I suppose this is just the nature of the internet - anyway, I'll still be around just not blogging myself.

Gleaner, sometimes hackers, commercial interests, spammers, weirdos & others target all out blogs - often they do it just randomly, and/or target hundreds of blogs at once. That's why I enable the 'approval' function, and that's why I'm very cutious about publishing any email addresses. I'm afraid that's just one of the annoying side-effects of the freedom of the Internet. By far the best thing to do is to ignore it, if you can. By stopping blogging, aren't you letting these guys win?

Thanks SW - I was told that I should have put watermarks on the photos as people will take photos regardless...I suppose specifically I shouldn't put photos of unique artworks.

Other times these things can be amusing and interesting - like when I found a quote from my blog put on a painted collage/print for sale on a reader's blog (quote obviously taken straight from my blog as it had my own unique punctuations and a minor error in it).

Hmm, maybe this is just the obligatory blog re-appraisal stage so I wont disappear in Greta Garbo-style just yet.
