Lying Down In Green Pastures

Here are two domestic couples I encountered on the Hadrian's Wall Path enjoying 'the green, green grass of home'. But what are they saying or not saying to each other? Or thinking about each other? Is a kind of bovine yin and yang at work, or are they simply posing for a pair of Yes/No pillows? Answers please, dear creative blogfriends...

Hi - beautiful pictures. I believe they are resting and getting ready for Autumn, planning if you will - to where they will migrate for the best food and shelter and water supply. they are a family, and will stay loyal until they die. They have had a good life so far - and are very blessed.
Love to you

I think they're merely being sensible—if you're going to laze around in the verdant sunshine and chew your cud, the only direction to face another cow is head on. In fact, if possible even cows never want to be on any other end on a cow other than it's head. Part of the Bovine Clean Air Imperative, you know.

BTW, at the risk of being revealed a spontaneity anachronism, I'm mystified…yes/no pillows? Really? They have those?

"Have you seen the new bull the farmer has bought - he's so handsome?"

"Handsome is as handsome does I say - he's better off in the barn than anywhere near this field."

Please put me out of my misery and tell me exactly where that photograph of Lincoln cathedral was taken from Robert.

Lovely shots. The perfect setting to 'ruminate', cow or not! :-)

"I wonder what good this idling does to us..."

"But look at the delicious green spread! The temptation is just too much, I say."

The couple on the left are old friends sitting in green pastures like bookends, listening to old songs by Simoo and Cowfunkle.

The couple on the right are discussing sacred cows.

(-: Good question (thanks for giving me to the chance be really silly)

And a beautiful photo!

Thanks, Gail. i think you are blessed with some special insight into the secret life of cows, here ...

And Grizz: um, yes, those pillows. I've heard of them. I think some unspontaneous, ultra-efficient, rather strange couples may even own them. But not us. Of course. Or our friends. Or anyone we know. Naturally.

Weaver, that was great! We can learn a lot from livestock, as you and the Farmer know well ... The photo was taken from the Viking Way between Waddington and Lincoln - from the old hollow way above the South Common, I think, but couldn't swear to it.

Thanks for chewing on this, Suman, and coming up with your delightful cowversation ...

Holy cow, am - that was just brilliant!

The pair on the left are males, the pair on the right females, at least if they're like humans. I observe that when men get together, they talk while they look at the world. When women get together, they talk and face each other.

But both pairs look silent, so what do I know . . . ?

Interesting observation, Ruth. And I've always thought till now that women were better at multi-tasking...

Silence is golden, as they say...

Old joke, I'm afraid.

Cow 1: Those walkers - they don't all stay in B&Bs you know.

Cow 2: No. Some of them bivvy on the wall itself.

Cow 3: What? Sleep in fields? Like us? Fools. What I'd give to stay in a decent B&B.

Cow 4: They deserve a pat on the back if you ask me.

:-) Dominic! You get the prize for this one.
