Lovely "Zen" design!

I'm so eager for green, so thank you.

Miniature iris are just poking through in the pot at the front. The concrete statue of a mother and child on the left is rough, but has personal family connections. The two grey planters have Buddha motifs. The trellis is hiding a dead area which was caused by having to fell a Corsican pine tree which dominated the garden so much that there was little light and nothing could grow there! Hopefully the roses and clematis now planted beneath will give cover. I like the focal splash of blue and the shadow of the trellis in the pond!

You and Carmen have done so much work on your property. Lovely. I remember when the Corsican pine was felled.

Rare blue sky indeed Robert, but that high high hedge will keep out the wind that seems to be blowing every day at present.

Absolutely magnificent, Robert! Also very inspiring as Margaret and I are working on the gardens around our new house. What could be better than a small Zen pond, a still place where one can always return to the center of things?

Love that zen pond! We miss the pond we had at our old house, so it's particularly fine to see yours.

I am in awe of your pond and generally in awe of people who can create such lovely places. My garden ambitions are much more modest - but I was pleased with myself for cutting the grass today, first time this year, and even managing to sit for a while in the sunshine, enjoying the way it looks, and hearing so many different birdsongs, particularly the 'telephone bird' which mimics a ringing phone.

The reflection in that pond is as still as the Zen mind.

Ah, that Corsican pine, Am! Although I hate felling trees, that one just had to go...

Today the warmest day of the year so far, Pat... and more blue sky...

Looking forward to seeing a pic of your own Zen pond at some point, George!

Nice to hear from you, Susan...

... and Dritanje, I'm intrigued by your 'telephone bird'! Do you know what it is? Escaped mynah bird? Or some uniquely Scottish species?

Thanks, Amanda, for your transparent and translucent comment.

The telephone bird has been around for years. I'm out in the garden and I hear the phone or think I do. I put down my gardening tools and head for the house, but the 'phone' doesn't ring again. Could be a starling, known to be great mimics?

Could be a starling — or perhaps a song thrush? Its song — which I heard at dawn at a cousin's house last Saturday — includes a little telephone-ringing repertoire.
